Written Life Stories, in professionally-printed books, is one of the most common established forms of capturing people’s memories. Many people wish to write their memoirs or autobiography, or write the one of close family members, but either never get round to it or find it prohibitively difficult, costly and time-consuming. We’ve all heard loved ones telling amazing anecdotes about their lives that we’d love to capture, but ironically day to day life gets in the way of actually doing it.
Our Written Life Stories members can help you produce superb autobiographical books with ease, providing the solution for anyone who has wanted to tell the story of their life, or capture the story of loved ones, but has neither the time, ability nor knowledge to do so. Often this is called “ghostwriting”, where the supplier effectively writes the storytellerr’s autobiography on their behalf.
Typically, the process to produce them begins with the interviews (or interviews), with a home visit, a phone or Skype interview with one expert interviewers or oral historians. They carry out for a friendly, guided interview using carefully-developed interview systems. The Life Story Interviews are recorded during this process. The storyteller is encouraged to include as much information as they’d like their family and future generations to hear.
The next stage is to to “ghostwrite” the Interviewers to create the manuscript of a typical autobiography in a narrative format. Some suppliers may prefer to provide a pure transcription of the Interview rather, so that the storyteller’s own words are used without change ro additional narrative text.
Following production of the manuscript, the storyteller client is given a draft which they can comment on or edit. The storyteller is also asked to provide full colour photographs. The book is then professionally laid out to incorporate the text and photographs to create a book as good as, if not often better, than typical autobiographies sold in bookshops.
Having a printed book Life Story means that you always access to the memories and history of you or your loved one. Paper is also one of the most long-lasting formats, with many books in musuems being many centuries old, and so you can be sure that your book will last many generations.
Many of our suppliers also provide the audio recordings of the Life Story Interviews as part of their packages. In addition, it is possible to combine your written Life Story with other offers from LSA members, so that you have your perfect solution.
