Our Code of Ethics
All members of the Life Stories Association are required to state their commitment to the following set of ethics:
- We appreciate our duty of care to participants and their well-being;
- We are inclusive in our services and do not discriminate;
- Adopt a fair, transparent and clear pricing policy
- We respect the freedom of choice for participants to share their story with us and the right of a participant to change their mind at any time;
- In our editing and post-production, we always seek to remain true to the narrative and intent of the participant’s story;
- We are committed to ensuring participants are satisfied with the service they receive;
- We will treat every story with care and respect, including storage and backups;
- We agree to be open, honest and transparent about copyright and unless agreed otherwise will never knowingly publish any stories or content that has not been approved for use;
- We will never knowingly publish or share content that might cause harm or offense;
- We understand the importance of data protection and our members commit to compliance with the Information Commissioner’s Office General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.
If you feel any of our members are not meeting their obligations under these ethics, then please contact us and we will take steps to investigate.
NB – Key to being allowed membership of Life Stories Association, we require its members to have the legal and best practice procedures mentioned above in place and adhere to the high standards and operational ethics we demand of a Life Story Associate. However in the in the unlikely event of a complaint, Life Story Association hold no responsibility for any issue concerning that member, action or misdemeanour that member maybe accused of perpetrating. The members of Life Stories Association are individual independent entities who are responsible for their own actions and operating procedures and any commissioned work is between you the customer and the chosen supplier.
